Assam : Dhubri Police rescued a minor girl on Saturday, who was kidnapped a month’s ago from Agomoni Police Station area of the district.
The minor was allegedly kidnapped by a man from her neighbourhood and the kidnapper was trying to take her to Bangladesh, a police officer said on Wednesday.
Acting on the complaint lodged by the girl’s family, the police started a probe and conducted raids at several places, but failed in tracing the girl, he added.
On Saturday evening, after getting information from a source, the police conducted a raid at Takimari village, located across the Indo-Bangladesh international border under Dhubri Police Station and rescued the girl along with the alleged kidnapper.
The arrested kidnapper has been identified as Altab Ali.
However, the alleged kidnapper, Altab Ali, has claimed that he is a resident of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal as per an AADHAR card issued by the UIDAI which has been recovered from his possession.
