Sikkim is One of the Best States of India, says Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports
Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel addressed a large gathering of NYK, NCC and NSS volunteers at the State level youth convention held at Manan Kendra on Sunday.
The Minister in his address showered praises on the State of Sikkim for the developments achieved by it. He stated that he was very impressed and happy after seeing and experiencing some of the good initiatives of the State Government. “I had heard a lot about Sikkim and after what I have seen in the past two days, I can say that Sikkim is one of the best States of India,” he said.
He stated that the feeling of nationalism and national integration is in abundance here, and people seem very content and happy. The Minister further stated that the pedestrian walk way at M.G. Marg, the cleanliness in the towns and villages, very little or No Horn even on busy traffic were some of the good practices he would attempt to emulate in his constituency in New Delhi.
Speaking on the Sports sector, the Minister assured complete support to the State for development of Sports. He added that the Ministry of Sports would support promising sportspersons from Sikkim, train them under Sports Authority of India, and groom them for the National level. He added that the Government of India is ready to lend any assistance to Sikkim considering the State is led by a hardworking and visionary Chief Minister.
The Minister also motivated the youth volunteers to dream big and work sincerely towards achieving it. He also assured to visit Sikkim again in October to be part of the three-day North East Level Youth Convention to be hosted by Sikkim. “Our Government is giving highest priority to the development of North East Region of the country,” he concluded.
Sikkim Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs R.B. Subba in his address briefed about the initiatives taken by the State Government towards development of the youth in every sector. He made a special mention of sports persons from Sikkim who have made a mark in various National and International events in their respective sport. He further urged the volunteers to develop a positive mindset and work towards self development.
Earlier, the Outstanding Youth Club Award for 2016-17 was presented to Hariyali Udyog Sangh of Chujachen East Sikkim. The award, constituted by Nehru Yuva Kendra, comprised of a cash award of Rupees One Lakh and citation.
Likewise, Suraj Rawat, Under-19 Indian Football Team Member, and Mukesh Rai, an ex-SAI Boxing Coach were felicitated and presented with sports kits. The Chief Guest also released the National Youth Parliament IEC Booklet on the occasion.
