Salesian College ladies win 7 medals at the 47th Annual Convocation of NBU held at Siliguri

At 47th Annual Convocation of North Bengal University (NBU) held on 2nd June 2017 at Siliguri - out of 161 medals awarded to Post Graduate students of 2016 batch from 47 affiliated Colleges, Salesian College students and faculty, all ladies, bagged seven medals.
While Siliguri Campus new faculty member Madam Saptami Sarkar won Gold medal for Geography, student Miss Raina Mahalanobish won Gold Medal in Psychology.
Again Siliguri Campus students Miss Renita Washington (Psychology), Miss Trishya Majumder (English) and Miss Shreya Agarwal (B.Com Management) won Silver Medals.
Madam Rittu Mangar, new faculty member of Salesian College Sonada received Silver Medal for Sociology from NBU Vice Chancellor Prof Somnath Ghosh.
Again Miss Trishya Majumder also got Kartik Chandra Maiti Memorial Medal for Securing Second Highest Marks in BA English Honours.
NBU conferred degrees on 31,262 students belonging to its 39 departments under 47 affiliated colleges.
West Bengal Education Minister Dr Partha Chatterjee and Minister in Charge of Tourism Shri Goutam Deb graced the occasion.
Salesian College was established in 1938 at Gorabari village under Rington Tea Estate near Sonada town situated some 6,500 ft above sea level. Siliguri Campus was started in 2009. Both campuses together have a total strength of some 1,500 students studying in some 12 departments in each campus.
