3 people burned alive in Oil Tanker blast

Meghalaya - In yet another truck related accident, three people died on the spot when an Oil tanker overturned and caught fire burning all the three occupants inside the truck near Mawpun Umroi Shillong Bye-pass today morning at around 5 to 5.30am.

It may be mentioned that this is the fourth such accident involving a truck in a span of one month in different locations of the state.

According to the Ri Bhoi police, identification of the dead bodies is difficult as trio occupants are completely burned. “The bodies will have to be sent for post-mortem and then only will we be able to identify them,” a police source said.

Police informed that the accident was caused due to over-speeding along the highway and on reaching a steep turning, the driver lost control of the vehicle after which it hit a barricade and overturned.

The accident took an ugly turn when the oil tanker caught fire and burned the three occupants before they could escape.
