Wild Elephant Kills a Youth in Dooars When he was Returning Home From Mela

A youth named Simon Barla age 25 years was returning back home in his cycle at Baradighi when an elephant suddenly came in his way last midnight. The elephant caught hold of him by the trunk and threw him away, killing him on the spot. Incident took place near Matelli in Dooars. The youth had gone to a mela and was coming back. The elephant is said to be from Gorumara National Park. Today morning locals saw his body and informed the forest officials. His body has been taken for post mortem.
