3 youths arrested for trying to kidnap a schoolgirl near Balason Bridge at Matigara

Three youths were arrested for allegedly trying to drag a schoolgirl into a car near Balason Bridge on the outskirts of Siliguri yesterday afternoon. The trio, suspected to be from Bihar, were caught by the local people who thrashed them before handing them over to Matigara police. Police sources said the girl had been walking back home from school with her friends when the incident happened. "The youths, who were in a sedan, stopped on NH31 and tried speaking to the girl. When she did not respond, they dragged her by the hand," said a source. As the girl shouted for help, local people caught the trio and allegedly roughed them up. Later, the girl's family members filed a complaint with the police, based on which they were arrested. "The trio have been identified as Abhishek Kumar, Rohit Kumar and Uday Tripathi. All three have suffered injuries. Their car has been seized," an officer of the Siliguri metropolitan police said. (Telegraph)
