TMC Worker Arrested Over Puja Chanda Assault

Pradhannagar police yesterday arrested Narsingh Mahato, a member of Yuba Sangha and Star Club at Panchanan Colony here, in connection with an alleged assault on a railway employee and his family over Kali Puja subscription.

Mahato, a local Trinamul worker whose signature was there in the money receipt that members of the club had dropped at the quarter of Krishna Das, a health inspector in the railways, has been booked under Section 325 (punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and Section 384 (punishment for extortion) of the IPC.

He was remanded in jail custody for six days by a court here.

On Wednesday late evening, a group of club members had gone to Das's home and had demanded Rs 301 as subscription. As he offered Rs 150, he was allegedly assaulted.
