Gangtok Thakurbari Mandir reconstruction work starts

Reconstruction work for Thakurbari Mandir began here on Thursday with Hawan puja. Earlier, the Mandir premises were cleaned up by NGOs and devotees. The Committee for temple reconstruction constituted by the State Ecclesiastical Department, is headed by MLA Pintso Chopel Lepcha as its chairman and Gangtok Mayor Shakti Singh Chaudhary as deputy chairman.



The Mandir situated in the heart of the town is one of the oldest temples in Sikkim built on land donated by the erstwhile Chogyal (King) of Sikkim. The Ecclesiastical department has already handed over Rs 4.5 crore to the Thakurbari Temple Construction Committee.
