NH55 shut down since 6 years - Truck Drivers Association begins indefinite hunger strike


The Truck Driver Association of Darjeeling, along with the local residents of Tindharia under Kurseong sub-division of Darjeeling, sat on indefinite hunger strike demanding the administration to allow their vehicles to ply through the 15-m long narrow stretch at Tindharia below the railway workshop. The traffic movement was was hit by a major landslide on 28th October 2011 on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) heritage track. Since then the vehicles movement on the highway in places such as Tindharia, Chunabhati, Rongtong, Gayabari and Mahanadi had come to a grinding halt.
