West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Calls For An Emergency Meeting At Uttar Kanya In Siliguri
The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday afternoon has called an emergency meeting with the Director General of Police Surajit Kar Purkayastha and other senior officials. She spent Friday night at Uttar Kanya, the mini- secretariat in north Bengal.
‘Everything will be normal from tomorrow. Buses will start plying. We have informed Kolkata Police to help in the matter. We will also conduct a meeting with the police and other DGPs to review the situation,’ Banerjee said.
After all the violence in hills and after the 12 hours strike headed by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) the situation is under control now and the life has limped back to normalcy as people resumed their daily work with hotels, shops, eateries and markets opening for regular business from Saturday.
Tourists who were struck at the hills gradually started arriving in Darjeeling after transportation facilities were put back in order.
After the meeting the WB CM is likely to leave for Kolkata.
