At last IPS officer SMH Mirza breaks down before Central Bureau of Investigation’s marathon investigation. IPS officer SMH Mirza admitted that he took Money from Narada CEO Mathew Samuel. Mirza also said that he gave all the money to the child home as donation. There was no way to escape from this admiration because already the video footage is declared true by Calcutta High Court.
Earlier, The Enforcement Directorate and the CBI on Thursday interrogated Tiger Mirza and IPS officer SMH Mirza in connection with the Narada probe. They were quizzed for around six hours.
The IPS officer was the second person to have been questioned by the investigating agency after Iqbal Ahmed, Trinamool Congress MLA and deputy mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
According to sources, Tiger Mirza told the ED that Mathew Samuel met several others before he met him to make inroads into the Trinamool circle.
Tiger told the ED that he did not know the Narada boss earlier and was introduced to him by a politician. Mirza, who was interrogated by the ED for around six hours, said that Samuel met a politician first, who asked Mirza to accompany the Narada boss.
According to ED officials, in April 2014, the leader allegedly asked Tiger to escort Samuel to Iqbal Ahmed’s house. Claiming innocence, Tiger Mirza reportedly told ED officials that since Samuel was new to the city, he asked him to escort him to four-five places. Samuel had earlier claimed that he had paid Rs 50,000 to Tiger Mirza for his services.
“When Kolkata Police interrogated me, I appeared before them in 30 minutes’ notice. So far I have been cooperating with the agencies,” Mirza had said on Wednesday.
He added, “Had I gained anything from Samuel, the CBI chargesheet would have mentioned my name.” According to CBI offcials, Samuel had allegedly met SMH Mirza first at a star hotel near Camac Street, followed by another meeting at a mall near the airport.
Mirza ran a background check on Samuel and was convinced that Santosh Shankaran (the name Samuel took) was a genuine person and was representing Impex Consultancy Solutions. Once convinced, Mirza allegedly asked Samuel to meet him at his residence in Burdwan.
According to Samuel’s statement before the agencies, he had paid Rs 5 lakh to SMH Mirza. Mirza has been asked to appear before the ED on Friday.
