This is the time of the year when people love to visit Sikkim and Gangtok. This period, is the best period as the sky in Sikkim is clear, offers amazing views of the mighty Himalayas. Sikkim at this period is decorated with flowers of different hues making it beautiful as a paradise. It is needless to say that the Changu Lake is one of the main attractions during this time.
But those who have already decided or have planned to visit Sikkim’s Changu Lake during this period will have to wait. Landslides have closed down the route from Gangtok to Changu Lake. Heavy rainfall since Sunday night might have led to the landslides at 8 mile and 9 mile area. The authorities, though, have assured that steps have been already taken to bring the situation under control by removing the residues.
Apart from the regular visitors, Sikkim-Gangtok has gained travelers from Darjeeling who decided to change their plan due to the resurgence by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha who has reignited their protests for a separate land and also is protesting Mamata-led government’s decision to implement Bengali language in the schools in the hill areas.
Many tourists are already on their way or are about to start their journey. But those who have not yet visited it but have planned to must change it at once. If you cannot control your temptation, then you must wait a bit more.
