West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to begin her North Bengal tour from today

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will set out for her North Bengal tour today. She will be attending several programmes in Jalpaiguri on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister will hold the administrative review meeting for Jalpaiguri district at Sarojendra Deb Raykat Kala Kendra. The Chief Minister also will be present in a programme where she will be inaugurating several projects and would also be laying foundation stones of some new projects.  She will also be distributing benefits among people of the district.

The CM will be inaugurating a mobile animal treatment unit from the programme at Jalpaiguri on Tuesday.  She will also be flagging off seven long-distance buses of North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC). She will also be inaugurating a  women’s police station and a residential complex for sub-inspectors.  The newly constructed building of Banarhat police station and barrack will also be inaugurated by the Chief Minister.

The CM is expected to declare Mirik as a new sub-division during her visit.

 

আজ থেকে পাঁচ দিনের উত্তরবঙ্গ সফরে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আজ থেকে পাঁচ দিনের সফরে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি যাচ্ছেন উত্তরবঙ্গে। মঙ্গলবার জলপাইগুড়ি সরোজেন্দ্রদেব রায়কত কলাকেন্দ্রে একটি সরকারি বৈঠক করার কথা রয়েছে তাঁর। এরপর জলপাইগুড়ি বিশ্ববাংলা ক্রীড়াঙ্গন প্রাঙ্গণে একটি সরকারি অনুষ্ঠান রয়েছে। বিশ্ব বাংলা ক্রীড়াঙ্গনে আয়োজিত এই অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়েই বিভিন্ন সরকারি প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করবেন তিনি।

জলপাইগুড়ি শহরে একটি মহিলা থানার উদ্বোধন করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। এছাড়া বানারহাট থানার নতুন ভবন এবং জলপাইগুড়ি ও বানারহাটে নতুন পুলিস ব্যারাকের উদ্বোধন করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। এই অনুষ্ঠান থেকেই ৭টি অত্যাধুনিক রকেট বাস চালু করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি। এছাড়া কৃষকদের মধ্যে বিতরণ করা হবে ট্রাক্টর, পাওয়ার টিলার ও কৃষি সরঞ্জাম। পাশাপাশি ছাত্রছাত্রীদের মধ্যে বিতরণ করা হবে কয়েক হাজার সাইকেল। এই অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়ে কয়েকশো মানুষকে চেকের মাধ্যমে অনুদানও তুলে দেবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়ে বিভিন্ন সরকারি প্রকল্পের শিলান্যাস ও উদ্বোধন করার কথাও রয়েছে তাঁর।

আগামী ৩০ মার্চ মিরিকের মেলা গ্রাউন্ডে আয়োজিত একটি অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়ে মিরিককে মহকুমা হিসেবে ঘোষণা করার কথাও রয়েছে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর। এর আগের দিন পাহাড়ের উন্নয়নমূলক বিষয় নিয়ে শিলিগুড়িতে একটি প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকও করতে পারেন তিনি। ‌‌

Middle age man commits suicide by jumping infront of a train near Siliguri

A man said to be in his forties jumped in front of a local train heading to Katihar from Siliguri junction today morning around 11am near Naxalbari station at Panitanki outpost. The body of the man was cut into two halves. Sources say the deceased looks like a Nepali and could be a resident of Nepal as the incident took place near India-Nepal border. The train was immediately stopped after the incident. The body was later recovered by the railway staff and sent for post mortem. Train services resumed after a delay of 30 minutes said sources.

Largest casino chain Deltin enters Sikkim

The country's largest casino chain Deltin Group said it opened its first facility at Gangtok, capital of Sikkim, under the brand name of Casino Deltin Denzong.  The casino, at the Denzong Regency hotel situated 6,000-feet above sea level and offering a breathtaking view of the world's third highest peak Mt Kanchenjuga, comes with 169 gaming positions spread across two levels.  Deltin already runs Asia's largest floating casino, Deltin Royale and also the country's first casino flotel, Deltin Caravela in Goa.  Delta Corp got the licence last July from Denzong Regency Hotel to run the run casino at its premises on lease, Ashish Kapadia, managing director of Delta Corp said.
