Truck from Siliguri heading Mirik meets with a dangerous Accident - 1 Dead and 13 Injured

One died on the spot and 13 others were left injured after truck folded off the road at 20acre in 8th mile. According to reports, the mishap took place at around 10:30 am today at 8th mile 9 km away from Mirik.

A canter, carrying electrical polls from Siliguri and was heading towards kharka Gaon, Okayti lost its control all of sudden and fell off the road which killed one.

The injured were taken to Mirik BPHC hospital . Few seriously injured were referred to a private hospital in Siliguri.The deceased have been identified as Baltu Roy from Mainaguri.

Middle age man commits suicide by jumping infront of a train near Siliguri

A man said to be in his forties jumped in front of a local train heading to Katihar from Siliguri junction today morning around 11am near Naxalbari station at Panitanki outpost. The body of the man was cut into two halves. Sources say the deceased looks like a Nepali and could be a resident of Nepal as the incident took place near India-Nepal border. The train was immediately stopped after the incident. The body was later recovered by the railway staff and sent for post mortem. Train services resumed after a delay of 30 minutes said sources.
