Girl on way to school in cycle crushed to death by a speeding state bus at Raiganj near Siliguri

15 year old Sonali Sarkar was on her way to school with her smaller sister when a speeding state bus crushed Sonali under its wheels at Raiganj near Siliguri. Her head was smashed into several pieces killing her on the spot. He sister luckily fell on the road side and is critically injured. She has been admitted to nearby hospital. Incident took place on NH10 yesterday morning.

Middle age man commits suicide by jumping infront of a train near Siliguri

A man said to be in his forties jumped in front of a local train heading to Katihar from Siliguri junction today morning around 11am near Naxalbari station at Panitanki outpost. The body of the man was cut into two halves. Sources say the deceased looks like a Nepali and could be a resident of Nepal as the incident took place near India-Nepal border. The train was immediately stopped after the incident. The body was later recovered by the railway staff and sent for post mortem. Train services resumed after a delay of 30 minutes said sources.
