55 NCC Cadets from West Bengal and Sikkim awarded Prestigious Governors Medal

Today, Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, the Governor of West Bengal, awarded  Medals to 55 NCC Cadets of Sikkim and West Bengal for their outstanding performance in the training year 2016-17, here at Kolkata.

The awardees included nine Best Cadets from Army, Airforce and Navy Junior and Senior Divisions of NCC, those who have excelled in shooting championships, girl cadets who won gold medals in volleyball, handball and kho-kho in NCC National Games and eighteen cadets who participated in the Republic Day parade held at New Delhi. The awardees included Hrithik Jana (Best Airforce Cadet), Sudeep Sonal (Best Army Cadet), Tamanna Sultana (Best Navy Cadet) among others.

It may be noted that two girl cadets from NCC’s Sikkim and West Bengal  Directorate were a part of the 10 member NCC team that scaled Mt. Everest last year. Besides, cadets from this two states have achieved laurels to the organisation in various competitive events and through their excellent performance in crowd control, blood donation camps, disaster management and other voluntary activities. NCC West Bengal and Sikkim Directorate had 93,000 trainees in its strength.

Maj. General L.B. Chand, VSM, Additional DG, NCC Directorate West Bengal & Sikkim, was also present on the occasion.
