Fire guts a furniture factory at Gurung Busty in Siliguri today early morning

As per sources a huge fire engulfed a furniture factory at Gurung Busty near Veer Jawan in Siliguri today early morning at 6.30am.

The furniture factory is said to belong to Mr. R N Saha. Several fire tendors reached the spot immediately and controlled the fire.

Locals say the fire was due to short circuit.

Middle age man commits suicide by jumping infront of a train near Siliguri

A man said to be in his forties jumped in front of a local train heading to Katihar from Siliguri junction today morning around 11am near Naxalbari station at Panitanki outpost. The body of the man was cut into two halves. Sources say the deceased looks like a Nepali and could be a resident of Nepal as the incident took place near India-Nepal border. The train was immediately stopped after the incident. The body was later recovered by the railway staff and sent for post mortem. Train services resumed after a delay of 30 minutes said sources.
