Lohagarh Bridge Collapses Again

On August 28th, 2016 we had posted a news under the headline, "Locals Accuse Negligence at Lohagarh Bridge Renovation"

Therein we had warned, "Locals in Lohagarh have accused colossal negligence on the part of Kurseong Engineering Department and Irrigation Department under GTA in relation to the ongoing Lohagarh bridge restoration work.

Locals have stated that the work being undertaken to fix the bridge damaged and unrestored since 2011 has been below par, and have cited lack of proper monitoring as one of the main reasons for a sub-standard work currently being undertaken.

The locals have demanded that a proper monitoring and survey of the ongoing work needs to be undertaken so that the bridge is built properly."

It has just been slightly over a month and our prediction has come true. Following the rain these past three days, the Lohagarh bridge has once again been washed away.

Will the GTA hold the contractors accountable and get them to fix the bridge again?

Pic 1 show the current state, Pic 2 show the shoddy work which we had highlighted.
