52 Drivers Booked for Over-charging Fares in Darjeeling - Rs 37000 Collected as Fine

We would like to Thank Darjeeling police for promptly taking action against the errant drivers who were charging excessive fares. ILoveSiliguri had reported about it yesterday morning when this was taking place.

Police have so far booked 52 drivers and collected a fine of Rs 37000 from them, and they have also arrested 15-20 drivers who were found to be drunk.

While there is massive rush due to tourist seasons, and we do understand that this is the only time for taxis to earn, however please be considerate and don't try to fleece the people. Together we can create a better system so that everyone benefits...

Thank you Darjeeling police, and especially SP Amit P Javalgi for taking prompt and much needed action.
