West Bengal CM asks opposition to work for development instead of abusing

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated and laid the foundations stones for a bouquet of development projects for Murshidabad district on Tuesday from a Government programme which was held at Baharampur Stadium at 3 PM. This was her first visit to the district after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Bengal for the second term.

The Bengal CM addressed a public meeting at Baharampur where she said, “Our Govt holds regular review meetings at block level where from the CMO to the level of BDO is present. Institutional delivery rate has gone upto 92% now. We have set up fair price medicine shops. We have set up 3 multi super hospitals, medical college hub, CCUs, SNSUs.”

Mamata Banerjee said, “1.10 Cr minority students have received scholarships in Murshidabad. 183 Karma Tirthas are coming up in Bengal out of which 25 are coming up in Murshidabad. We have distributed benefits to 80000 people from this stage today. 28000 students in Murshidabad have received cycles under Sabuj Sathi scheme. We have Kanyashree scheme for girls, Sikshashree scheme for SC/ST students. We distribute shoes, books for free to students in govt schools. Beds and medicines are free at govt hospitals in Bengal.”

Mamata Banerjee said, “We have given buses, cars, autorickshaws are Gatidhara scheme. We have distributed farming equipment, dhamsa-madol and other instruments today. Rs 375 Cr has been allocated for Kandi Master Plan for flood management. We have allotted Rs 479 Cr for flood prevention in Murshidabad. Erosion of Ganga river bank is a lasting problem here. It is under Centre’s jurisdiction. We are in talks with them. We have launched several vessels for water transport today. We have decided to increase the number of cold storages and procurement centres.”

Mamata Banerjee added, “Murshidabad has historical importance. Everyone has heard of Siraj-ud-daula and Mir Zafar. Why is Murshidabad district underdeveloped even after 69 years of independence? It is due to politics. We must keep politics aside and work for development. Instead of hurling abuses at me, Opposition must do even 1% of the work that I have done in 5 years.”

Mamata said, “Youths and students are our future. They will make Bengal the best again. Centre takes away a major part of our revenue to repay the debt incurred by the Left. We have decided to give a sapling to parents whenever a baby is born. We have decided to give financial aid to the poor to perform last rites of their deceased relatives. Murshidabad is famous for textiles. We will develop the sector. We are committed to help various self-help groups and artisans. Help us in reviving the glory of Murshidabad district with development.”

Mamata Banerjee said, “We have to stop cattle smuggling and women trafficking. Girls are our assets, our pride. Girls are our future. They are pride. Do not belittle them. Let them stand on their feet. We have to maintain communal harmony during the festive season.”

The projects that was inaugurated by the Chief Minister today include Kisan Bazars, a power sub-station, police stations,  water projects, road projects, girls hostels, new government buildings among other things.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for numerous projects including a number of Karma Tirthas, power sub-stations, water supply projects including solar powered ones, road projects, a cold storage and hostels.

The Chief Minister also distribute several benefits like cycles under Sabuj Sathi, agricultural machinery, land pattas, financial grant under Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Sikshashree among others.
