Darjeeling Girl Wins the Young Green Filmmaker Award 2016 at Intl Fest in New Delhi

Darjeeling Girl Minket Lepcha Awarded the 'Young Green Filmmaker Award' 2016 at the recently concluded Woodpecker International Film Festival, held in New Delhi.

She received the award for her documentary "Voices of Teesta", which chronicles the lives of people who live along Teesta and how it has changed due to numerous dams being build in Sikkim and West Bengal.

It is incredible that Ms. Minket won the 'Young Green Filmmaker Award' in her very first attempt at making a documentary.

We are hopeful that Minket will inspire thousands of our youngsters, particularly our daughters to follow their heart and live their life with all the sincerity, dedication and hard work to make their dreams come true.

We congratulate Minket and her team members who were involved in the making of "Voices of Teesta"... we are hopeful, it will be showcased in all the schools and colleges across our region, so that our people can see the truth behind the much hyped 'development' along the river Teesta.
